About Melanie McQuaid
Melanie is a professional triathlete who lives and trains in Victoria, BC. She has raced professionally both as a road and an off-road cyclist.
Melanie’s career started as a World Cup mountain bike racer, representing Canada at multiple UCI World Championships in XCO racing and once at the UCI Road World Championship. She then moved to triathlon, racing as one of the best off road triathletes in the world for ten years. As the first person to win three professional XTERRA World Champion titles and the inaugural ITU Cross Triathlon World Champion, Melanie has more than ten podium positions at a World Championship. In addition, she has five overall USA XTERRA series titles, an undefeated record of seven XTERRA Canadian Championship wins and five USA National Championship victories. Since moving to Ironman racing, she added six half distance titles and a second place at her rookie attempt at full Ironman distance in 2015. Melanie has won more than 50 professional triathlon races.
Melanie completed a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Victoria. She hosted a television segment for two years, co-hosted a sports radio talk show, made guest appearances on numerous national television shows, managed a professional cycling team, and managed/coached an age group triathlon team. She is currently coaching athletes as part of her MelRad Racing coaching program.
An athlete and coach, her goal is to inspire the present, the future and the past generation to explore their potential and to find success and happiness in sport. Her motto is “Keep It Fun” - knowing that having fun creates the best performances.
